The Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, Marple
Originally established as a children’s convalescence home in 1904 and later, the new County Nursing Home was built. This was extended and refurbished into the hospital in 1931.
The Band of Kindness 1897
The charity was established as The Band of Kindness to teach children to be kind to animals and in turn their citizens
The Cripples Children’s Help Society 1903
Hampers were distributed to ‘crippled’ children who lived in Manchester. In the hampers were toys, clothing, books, sweets, food and a greeting card
Tan-Y-Bryn & White Heather
Two convalescence homes were opened in North Wales.
Tan-Y-Bryn for adults in 1949 and White Heather for children in 1956. Many thousands of people enjoyed these facilities.
